Architecture skills

Practical working skills for solution architects, enterprise architects, and integration architects who need to map capabilities, review designs, record decisions, and define system boundaries with clarity.

What this group covers

This skill group covers the core architecture activities that happen during discovery, design, review, and transition phases of enterprise and SAP projects. It is not a framework encyclopedia. It is a set of usable methods for producing useful architecture artifacts and making defensible decisions.

The skills here are designed to be used by humans and AI agents together. Each page includes decision rules, templates, quality checklists, and explicit agent instructions.

Skills in this group

Capability Mapping

Map what the organization does, what systems support it, and where gaps exist between business functions and technical enablement.

System Context Mapping

Define what a system does, what it depends on, what depends on it, and where the integration boundaries lie.

Solution Architecture Review

Review a proposed solution design against requirements, constraints, risks, and non-functional needs before commitment.

Architecture Decision Record

Record why a significant architectural choice was made, what options were rejected, and what consequences follow.

Non-Functional Requirements

Define measurable quality attributes — performance, availability, security, maintainability — that constrain the solution.

When to use this group

How the skills connect

  1. Capability Mapping establishes the business context — what functions exist and what supports them.
  2. System Context Mapping defines the system boundaries within that capability landscape.
  3. Solution Architecture Review evaluates a proposed design against the mapped context and requirements.
  4. Architecture Decision Record captures the significant choices made during design and review.
  5. Non-Functional Requirements constrain every design and review with measurable quality attributes.

These skills are often used alongside Gap Analysis, API Integration, and Change Impact Analysis.

Status and limitations

This skill group is a public working interpretation of architecture practice. It is not official TOGAF, ArchiMate, or SAP documentation. It focuses on the subset of architecture work that produces immediate, reviewable artifacts. It does not cover detailed infrastructure sizing, network design, or security architecture at depth. Use these skills as structured starting points, not as authoritative framework substitutes.
